Michael Taylor

David was born in Lancashire but moved to Buckinghamshire as a child. After training at Amersham College he worked for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and joined the Saltmine Theatre Company in 1989. He went on to perform in all their major productions, becoming leader of the Company in 1991 and subsequently Creative Arts Director in 1998.

 

He wrote several of Saltmine's productions including adaptations of ‘The Hiding Place’, ‘The Cross and the Switchblade’ and ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’. His other writing commissions include Spring Harvest, BBC, Tear Fund and Open Doors. He directed many productions for Saltmine including ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ and ‘The Hiding Place’.

Michael was raised in Isleham, near Newmarket and joined the Saltmine Theatre Company in January 2005. He went on to appear in productions including 'The Cross and the Switchblade', 'The Hiding Place', 'The Screwtape Letters', 'Robin Hood', 'When I'm Calling You', 'Treasure Island' and 'Three Wise Men and a Baby'. Film credits include ‘The Agent’ by Halite Films.

 

He has written material for Saltmine Theatre Company and Spring Harvest and written and performed music used in productions of 'The Stars, the Sand and That Other Now', 'The Pilgrim's Progress' as well as 'The Cross and the Switchblade'. He has directed ‘The Screwtape Letters’ and ‘Treasure Island’.
